Mr. Louis Gibbs, 80, of Huntsville, passed away on Thursday at his home while surrounded by his loving family.

He was a devoted Christian, a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and loved gospel music.  He and his family started their gospel music group, The Gibbs Family, in 1980 and sung together for over 25 years.  He was a machinist and had retired from Chrysler after more than 24 years of service.   Louis loved fishing, camping, trains, bicycles, and making home movies with his video camera.

He was preceded in death his parents, Harold & Beatrice Gibbs, his granddaughter, Brittany Loren Woodfin, and his brothers, Gene Gibbs and Ralph Gibbs

Surviving family members include his wife of 61 years, Margie A. Gibbs; His children: Lynette (Steve) Spearman, Louis “Eddie” (Bellamy) Gibbs, Brenda (James) Jackson, and Andrea (Jeff) Knight.  9 grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren; His brother, Paul Gibbs and his sister, Patricia “Patty” Haden.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday at 11am at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Pastor Lon Ostrzycki officiating.  Burial will follow and will be in Flint River Cemetery.
