Louis Burnette, a native of Hamilton, Mississippi, passed away at his home January 12, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Louis graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Mississippi.  He attended Itawamba Junior College, Bevill State Community College and graduated from Birmingham Southern College with a B.S. degree.  Served with the Armed Forces of the United States, honorably discharged after serving in Germany SP4 in 1977.  He served with the 257th Signal unit of the Dora Army National Guard and retired after 20 years service with the rank of Sergeant E-5.  He recently retired from Birmingham Fastener Company.  Louis was a member and deacon of Aiken Grove Baptist Church.

Louis was involved in many activities which he pursued with gusto and enthusiasm, among those being art, photography, woodworking, beekeeping and gardening.  He was a Master Gardener and served as President of the local Master Gardeners Association.  He also served as President of the local Bee Keepers Association.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Harmon and father, James Garfield Burnette.  Louis is survived by his wife, Sandra of Sipsey, Alabama, his brother, Donald Wayne Harmon (Laura) of Hamilton, Mississippi, a sister, Carmela Burnette Rohe (Joe) of Bloomingburg, New York and a host of friends and family.

Due to Covid 19 there will be no visitation.  Graveside services will be Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sardis Cemetery on the River Road.  Rev. Wayne Williams will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
