Louella was the fourth of six children born to Fred and Gladys Veach in Franklin, TN, in 1938. She is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Cullen, and three brothers, Fred (Ruby) Veach, Charles (Maxine) Veach, Joe (Estelle) Veach. She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Linda) Veach.

Louella raised two daughters, Carla (Robb) Gentry and Stacy (Michael) Gower. She has five grandchildren, Camie (Andy) Gibson, Olivia (Clay) Bradley, Bailey Kennedy, Colin Gower, and Andrew Gower; three great-grandsons, twins Jackson and Gentry Bradley, and Brycen Gibson, and several generations of nieces and nephews.

Louella worked for 40+ years in the grocery business. She worked for H.G. Hills Food Stores, Sunflower Grocery, Albertsons, and Sam’s Club. She had an impeccable work ethic and heart for serving others.

She also loved gathering with her friends and family for any occasion, sharing old stories and laughing; cooking and feeding people; and dancing. Louella was the epitome of a people person. Even though dementia eventually robbed her of the ability to communicate verbally, she never gave up being social. She was a favorite of the nurses and staff at NHC Franklin because of her sweet spirit and eagerness to engage with others and participate in everything she could.

She especially loved her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. They all have fond memories and stories of Grandma trying to sneak treats to them, go out for ice cream before dinner, or bring them whatever toy or trinket she thought would make them smile.  Momma Lou often lived by her own set of rules and was unapologetically her “authentic” self.

She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Louella at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday Jan. 14, at 1 p.m. with a visitation at Noon and a family gathering after the service at the home of Carla and Robb Gentry.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation via the link below to the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
