Lori Kristin Sweeney, 39, of Fort Payne, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021. She was born March 7, 1982, in Metairie, Louisiana. She graduated from Riverside Christian Academy, Riverdale High School, and later studied at the University of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She then moved to Monroe, Washington with her parents, where she met her husband Justin Sweeney of New Orleans. They later moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where she helped prepare autistic children to live more autonomously. Lori was awarded statewide recognition for her work with autistic children. In 2017, Lori and Justin joined the close-knit community of Fort Payne, Alabama and opened The Spot Coffee Shop. Lori was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Lori loved her life as mother to her two boys Everett and Easton. In life, Lori had many mountains to climb and she gave her absolute all until the very end. The fruits of the Spirit found in the Bible could be used to describe Lori: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 1, at Grace Presbyterian Church with private burial following in Glenwood Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband Justin Sweeney; sons Everett and Easton Sweeney; parents Louis and Betty Langley; brother Bryan Langley and wife Carolyn; and nephews Walter and William.
