Lorene W. Payne, 89, of Huntsville, died Saturday. Mrs. Payne was an active lifetime member of Central Presbyterian Church and involved in numerous community activities. She was a member of Grace Club Auxiliary, Junior League of Huntsville, and the Grace Club. For 60 years, she loved and enjoyed her sewing club, “The Sew and Sews”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Wendal C. Payne; parents, George and Lorene Wood; sister, Mary Lane Beattie; brother, George W. Wood; and grandson, Wendal D. Payne, Jr.
Survivors include son, W. Dave Payne and wife, Kathy; daughters, Lorene P. Shrout and husband, George “Roddy”, Cynthia P. Geddes and husband, Philip; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Central Presbyterian Church with the funeral service immediately following. (www.laughlinservice.com)
