54807e5702d64-2550-4308-LoreneSanderson-cv2Mrs. Lorene Melton Sanderson, age 96, of Florence, passed away on December 3, 2014 at Glenwood Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, and worked at Kroger’s Grocery Store in Florence where she retired in 1981 after 30 years of service.

Visitation will be Friday, December 5, 2014 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Park with Ronnie Pannell officiating.

Mrs. Sanderson was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman Boyd and Jessie Mae Melton; husband, Paul Sanderson; son, Bobby Sanderson; step-daughters, Jane Sanderson, Jerry Parker, Rebecca Tully; brother, James Melton.

Survivors include her son, Dickie Sanderson and wife Carol Long Sanderson of Florence; step-son, Elvis Paul Sanderson, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; step-daughter, Paula Womble of Florence; sisters, Christine Hester, Lou Ella Gamble both of Florence; three grandchildren, P.R. Sanderson of Deatsville, AL, Christy Sanderson Ticer of Florence, Kim Smith of Lake Tahoe; four great-grandchildren, Carson and Cody Ticer, Cameron and Conner Sanderson.

She was a great mother and grandparent who will be missed by family and friends. Even though she was 96 years old she always said, when asked, that she was 79 and holding and no one questioned her about it.

Active pallbearers will include P.R. Sanderson, Cody Ticer, Robert Gamble, Bobby Holley, Ronnie Hannah, and Bobby Long.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
