Lorene Jackson Upton, 85 of Union Grove, the Morgan City community, died Monday January 22, 2018 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
Mrs. Upton was born May 5, 1932 in Marshall County to Robert Sherman Jackson and Nannie Clark Jackson. She worked for Atlanta Sharp Tech as a machine operator until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, reading, singing and going out to eat.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and later attended Rescue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son-in-law: Ravinder Singh and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband: Gordon “Shorty” Upton, her son: Billy Ray Upton, her daughter: Janet Singh; her sisters and brothers: Bertis Voyles, Dorothy Voyles and Oma Jackson, Orville “Bud” Jackson and Talmadge “Tad” Jackson, and her grandson James Reynolds.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 25, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jarod Andrews, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 25, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel prior to the service.
