Lora Mae Whitman Newell, age 89, of Haleyville, Alabama passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019. She retired from Haleyville Textile, and was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Ronnie Marbutt and Bro. Royce Brimer officiating. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Ms. Newell is survived by her children, Patricia (Sammy) Johnson, Walton (Doris) Whitman and Tommy R. Whitman; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Viola Godsey; 1st husband, Ernest Whitman; 2nd husband, Hugh B. Newell; daughter, Carolyn Sue Whitman Tidwell; grandchildren, Paul Ashley Johnson and Rhonda Tidwell Barnes; brothers and sisters, Maggie Brooks, O’Neal Godsey, Nartis Godsey, James Godsey, Evaline Godsey, Lonely Godsey & infant twin.
