Lora Thompson Burns Profile Photo Lora Jane Thompson Burns, 56, passed away at her daughter’s residence on Friday, May 19, 2023.  Born on November 21, 1966 in Amory, she was the daughter of Elmer Edward and Mable Helen Potts Thompson.  Lora was a 1984 graduate of Smithville High School and she later attended Itawamba Community College, graduating in 2001 with an associate degree.  Upon graduation, she immediately began a career with Tennessee Valley Authority as a transmission supply specialist.  Lora moved to Knoxville, Tennesse in 2017 before returning home. She enjoyed playing pool, music, art, and antiques.  Lora was a very accomplished piano player and could crochet.  She was a member of Norwood Church of Christ in Knoxville, TN.

Funeral services honoring Lora’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Minister David Highland officiating.  Burial will follow in Young Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her two daughters, Megan Trentham (Josh) of Detroit, AL and Ashley Hurley (Josh) of Amory; two brothers, Edward Eugene Thompson (Dot) of Memphis and Gary Thompson (Kimberly) of Amory; 8 grandchildren, Jasmine Ausborne, Isaiah Magallon, Summer Jones, Sophia Magallon, Annabelle Jones, Harper Hurley, Kari Trentham, and Rowyn Hurley; special friend for over 20 years, Todd Lawson and special friend, Gerald Richardson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Roy Thompson; and sister, Nell Cox.

Pallbearers will be Josh Trentham, Josh Hurley, Isaiah Magallon, Gerald Richardson, Scot Hurley, and Sean Thompson.

Visitation will be on Monday from noon until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
