A graveside service for Mrs. Lona Frances Watts Browning, age 94, will be on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ashland City Cemetery.

Mrs. Browning passed away on April 2, 2022. Lona was born in Pyriton, AL on April 16, 1927 to the late William Jacob and Lola Mae Davis Watts. Lona was married to Lindy Browning for 69 years and was known as a traditional southern cook, lifetime gardener, professional seamstress, quilter and basket weaver (Pine Straw). Lona has lived in Alabama, Texas, Indiana, South Carolina, and Virginia. Her children remembered their mother with these memories from daughter Linda, “She’s Beautiful”, daughter Billie, “She’s selfless”, son Leslie, “She’s spirited”, son John, “She’s nurturing”.

Lona is survived by her children, Linda B. Abrami (John), Billie B. Bowman (Roger), Leslie S. Browning, and John E. Browning (Stephanie); grandchildren: Sarah (Todd), Jacob (Stephanie), Joshua (Zara), Johanna (Ricky), Hannah (Dave), Nathan (Jessica), Jennifer (Ryan), and Kaitlyn (Derik); Great-grandchildren: Brandon, Cameron, Indy, Clara, Gretchen, Keegan, Ensley, Jeffery, Lona, Arnold, Ryder, Rory, Jonathan, and Emilia; her sisters: Bettie W. Bullard, Martha W. Victory, Linda W. Adams; her brother, Jerald Watts; her sister-in-law, Barbara Anne Parris; her cousins: Sue McCrimon, Carolyn Morris, Budy Stasco, and Lounell Sprayberry, 25 nephews and nieces.

Arrangements were made by McCoy Funeral Home of Blacksburg, VA and Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
