Mrs. Lola Marie Shirley Hadley, age 95, of the 4 Way Stop community in Joppa, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home early Tuesday morning, November 25, 2025. Born on February 2, 1930, in Marshall County, Alabama, Lola was one of five children of Wheeler Shirley and Bertha Stanley Hadley. She graduated from Arab High School, pursued additional college studies, and was a devoted member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Lola dedicated her professional life to serving others as a medical assistant for local doctors.
Lola aged gracefully and remained as active as her health allowed. She enjoyed spending time at the senior center, where she loved playing Bingo, Rook, and Skip-Bo with her many friends. Lola also cherished trips to the mountains, finding joy in the beauty of nature and the adventure of travel. Always a devoted fan, she spent many happy hours watching Atlanta Braves Baseball and Alabama football, always supporting her favorite teams.
Lola is preceded in death by her parents, Wheeler and Bertha Hadley; husband, Robert Radford Hadley; brother, Roy Shirley; sisters, Elizabeth Shirley, Mabel Hornsby, and Oma Thompson.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: sons, Donnie Hadley (Rose) and Jeff Hadley (Pam); daughter, Cindy Ryan (Mike); thirteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and extended family members.
Services for Lola will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, AL. Friends and family will gather for a visitation on Friday, November 28, 2025 between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Brother Jeff Helton will officiate. Escorting Lola to her final resting place in Corinth Cemetery will be David Bagwell, Alvie Plunkett, Rudy Hornsby, David Williams, Benny Hornsby and Michael Shirley. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
