Funeral services for Lola Mae Gurley, 98, will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1pm until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gurley passed away on September 28, 2026 at Mississippi Care Center. She was born in Duckhill, MS on May 1, 1928 to the late Chris and Cleo Barnes Byrd. She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church and church was a big part of her life. She was a cafeteria worker at Kossuth High School and loved taking care of her cats and her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Freeman Gurley; her brother, James Byrd; and her sisters, Wilma Corley, Ople Ezell and Marie Martin.
She is survived by her son, Danny Gurley; grandsons, Justin (Grace) Gurley and Jason Gurley; and a great-granddaughter, Thea Gurley.
