Lola M. Jensen, of Huntsville passed away Tuesday at the age of 93. She was born and raised in the small farming town of Mears, MI to Jim and Lottie Fuller and had one brother, Harland. She married the love of her life in 1951. For the next 12 years they were a military family, being stationed in Alaska (before it was a state) and New Jersey, Maryland and Las Cruces, New Mexico where their daughter Kris was born. In 1963 they settled in Huntsville where they were long time members of St Paul United Methodist Church. They were married for 58 years before Ward’s passing in 2010.
Shortly before Ward’s retirement in the late 70’s, Ward and Lola got involved in “Roughing It Easy” with the local Airstream and Good Sam camping clubs. They dearly loved attending the annual Airstream International rallies, the Wally Bynum Caravans and the numerous weekend campouts at the local Roaring Pines campground in Lacey’s Spring, AL. Many good friends were made and cherished here. Later they purchased their “snow bird” home in Lillian, AL in the Spanish Cove community where they continued to enjoy many wonderful friends and a beautiful marriage and retirement.
Lola was a very loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother and Nana who will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Kris Keeton (Jim), grandsons, Josh Keeton (Lauren) and Justin (Chelsea Williams – fiancée), great-grandson Kaiser Keeton, and special nieces, Vickie Fenton (David) and Laurie Bergh (Rick).
Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm Saturday 1/30/16 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1 pm with Rev. Sheree Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
The family would like to say a special Thanks to three wonderful ladies from Home Instead – Olympia, Felisa and T’tiana, the entire staff at Morningside Assisted Living, as well as the nurses and staff at Gentiva Hospice – your care, assistance and compassion were greatly appreciated. Also to two very dear friends who have done so much for Lola and the family – Jackie Smith and Mr. Ezell Conerly, we remain in your debt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
