Lois Gober McCalpin, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Born on April 1, 1930 in Vina, AL, Lois was the youngest daughter of Benton and Georgia Gober. She married J. P. McCalpin on October 8, 1945 and they spent many years in Zion, IL where she retired from American Motors. After retirement, Lois and J.P. moved back to Red Bay, AL where they lived seventeen years. They then moved to Texas to be closer to their son and remained there until their deaths.
Services will be Tuesday, January 30, 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Danny Stanford officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery, Vina, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
Lois will be lovingly remembered by her son, Larry McCalpin (Anne) and two grandchildren, Jason (Allison) and Kasey (Vaughn). She will also be fondly remembered by her four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Garrett, Owen and Molly as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Nelson, Freddie Moore, Terry Gober, Cameron Addison and Garrett Addison.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 12-2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.
