The list is complete and now it is time to make plans for dining in the Shoals! Four restaurants in Colbert County will be part of Alabama Restaurant Week, August 17-26 when the State’s Tourism Department is showcasing 232 restaurants across the state. All are participating in the promotional event by offering discounted fixed-prices on many of their signature menu items. These specials will run for lunch and/or dinner at the following restaurants: Claunch Cafe, Rattlesnake Saloon, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals Grille and Stanfield’s Steakhouse.
Claunch Café (400 S. Main St., Tuscumbia, in Spring Park) provides home cooking at its best! The Claunch family has been in the restaurant business for over 60 years. In addition to daily plate specials which feature a “meat and three”, during Restaurant Week one may order the Claunch signature Pecan Chicken Salad Plate for only $5.00. This popular meal was featured in the 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama before You Die brochure, also presented by Alabama Tourism Department for the current “Year of Alabama Food.” Pecan Chicken Salad Plate features a generous scoop of the homemade Chicken Salad, a slice of lemon tea bread, fresh fruit and “frozen fruit delight”. Susann Hamlin, Executive Director for Colbert County Tourism, promises that “if you choose to visit one of the four restaurants who are this year’s Restaurant Week participants, you will enjoy some of the best food the area has to offer!”
Hamlin added that Lee Sentell, Alabama Tourism Director, plans to make Alabama Restaurant Week an annual affair. Restaurants who didn’t participate this year will have the opportunity to sign up and participate next year.
“We expect this promotion to be a huge success for our local restaurants, for our state’s image and for tourism in Colbert County.”
