Linnie Lee Walters, 68, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Gilmore in Amory. He was born on May 26, 1953 in Aberdeen to Fowler and Olga Coleman Walters. A graduate of Hatley High School, he had a longtime career in the propane industry retiring from Suburban Propane. On July 27, 1974, Linnie married the former Judy Long. One of 10 children, family was all things to Linnie, and he supported his children in sports and then later his grandchildren who was his whole world. He never missed an IAHS football game. He was the go-to person for the community and he tried to take care of any need that needed to be met. He had an easy-going personality and with a great big smile, he loved all of his customers. He knew the importance of customer service and knew a man’s word was his bond. Linnie was a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ.
A graveside service will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Lewis Easter Cemetery with Coy Walters officiating. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 4:50 p.m. on Greenwood Springs Road.
In addition to his wife, Judy Walters of Greenwood Springs; he is survived by his mother, Olga Walters of Greenwood Springs; one son, Chris Walters (Janie) of Fulton; one daughter, Bridget Walters (Jess) of West Monroe, LA; his brothers, Coy Walters (Susan) of Texas, J.D. Walters (Joann), of Greenwood Springs; Tim Walters (Sandra) of Smithville, Jerry Walters of Greenwood Springs, Terry Walters (Vicki) of Aberdeen, Larry Walters (Kelly) of AR, and Claude Walters (Kimberly) of Greenwood Springs; sisters, Claudette Taylor (Steve) of Aberdeen, Renee Smith (Dane) of Greenwood Springs, and J.J. Walters of Tupelo; grandchildren, Bryson Walters, Channing Walters, Jamie Gage Walters, and Allison Claudette Karen Walters; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his nephew, Daniel Taylor; and sister-in-law, Sissy Walters.
Pallbearers will be Bryson, Caleb, and Collin Walters.
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
