Lindan “L.J.” Jerome Hill  Lindan Jerome “L.J.” Hill, 47, died unexpectedly at his home in Bremen, Alabama. Cause of death was due to underlying heart conditions. He is son of Lindan B. and Constance H. Hill, who survive. L.J. is survived also by a sister, Michelle Mayle (Dayton), a brother, Robert Ira (Marnie), a son, Lindan Ray Hill and a daughter, Sadie Hope Hill.

Lindan was a 1995 graduate of Eastern High School, Greentown, Indiana. He graduated from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree with Distinction in Anthropology, in 1999. L.J. was a member of the SMU Swimming and Diving Team, where he earned major varsity letters all four years. In 2004, Lindan graduated from Wake Forest School of Law with the degree of Juris Doctor.

Lindan worked as an attorney in Birmingham, Alabama for the next 20 years, being recognized multiple times as Outstanding Young Attorney. He represented hundreds of clients in construction related litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, prison reform, and civil and estate planning. He was dedicated and committed to the highest professional practice of law.

Other survivors include uncles and aunts. Bill and Phyllis Shupp, Ed and Sherry Farthing, Full Colonel Claude Matchette, U.S. Army (Ret), Lucinda Coulter, Heather White, and Gretchen Hill. Surviving also are many cousins.

His children, Lindan Ray, and Sadie Hope, were the most important people in his life. Together, they played football, baseball, volleyball, basketball, gourmet cooking and board games.

L.J. was a friend and colleague to many. Over the years, as an athlete and attorney, he developed life-long friendships with people all over the United States, from California to the New England states, and all points in between. His kindness and compassion will be missed by all. Lindan’s razor-sharp wit and quick humor will be missed by a few and not understand by many.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown, Indiana, followed immediately by a brief service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, Indiana. A visitation will also be held at Hanceville Funeral Home in Hanceville, Alabama on Wednesday, April 10,2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
