Mrs. Linda Rose Wells
Linda left this life for her place in Heaven on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Born January 3, 1943, in Scottsboro to Leonard and Ethel Martin Butler, she graduated from Woodville High School in 1961 and then from Alabama Business College. She went on to work as a secretary for lawyers and doctors.
Linda was married to Ernest Edd Wells in 1964 until his death in 2013. They moved to Illinois and she was a Sunday School teacher in the church in IL and always very active in churches she was a member of or attended. She married a couple more times and was engaged to Jake Carlton, when he passed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ethel Butler and in-laws, Gather Sentell and Martha Lee Wells; her husband, Ernest Edd Wells and his siblings, George Kennedy, Jack Wells, Cecil Wells, Jean Washburn and Jane Manning; her brothers-in-law, Glenn Little and Boyd Washburn.
Her survivors are her daughter, Belinda Waugh and her husband Alan Waugh; and her grandson, Jared Waugh; her sister, Macel Butler Little and her family; her brothers and sisters-in-law Mike and Connie Wells, Maxine Wells, Marilyn Wells and Roscoe Manning; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Duaine Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.
