Linda Rose Cooley Couch, a longtime resident of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, after a lengthy period of health challenges. She was born on May 15, 1942, in Guntersville, Alabama, to Roy and Lillian Cooley. On March 7, 1962, she married the love of her life, Jack David Couch, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years.
Linda devoted her early years to raising her three sons before returning to school to pursue a degree in nursing, which she proudly earned in June 1988. She went on to serve her community as a nurse at Huntsville Hospital, where she spent her entire career in the neonatal unit. Caring for babies and their mothers brought her great joy and gave her the opportunity to share her deep compassion and generous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Couch; her parents, Roy and Lillian Cooley; her infant brother, William Cooley; her brother, Roy Cooley Jr.; her sister, Barbara McClure; and her grandson, Jack David Couch III.
Linda is survived by her sons, Jeff Couch, David Couch (Anita), and Joseph Couch (Bekki); her grandchildren, Stuart Wilson, Catherine Couch, Grayson Couch, Seth Couch, Gillian Couch, Jackson Couch, and William Couch; and her great-grandchildren, Josie Couch, Sunnie Couch, and Elliot Frances Couch. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Hunter; niece, Emily Hunter (Mark); nephew, Christian McClure (Katherine); great-niece, Amelia McClure; great-nephew, Charlie McClure; and many beloved cousins and friends.
Linda will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that her strong faith sustained her and that she was prepared for her heavenly homecoming. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for her during her illness, especially the doctors, nurses, and staff at Huntsville Hospital and Barfield Health Care.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805. Pastor John Dees will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society or to a local community animal shelter of your choice. Linda had a lifelong love of animals and especially adored her dog, Opie, who was her constant companion for the past nine years.
