Linda Owen, 80, of Fort Payne, passed away Friday, September 11, 2025, at Shepherd’s Cove. She was born August 9, 1945, in Diaz, Arkansas, to the late Kenneth O’Dell Carpenter and Vina Mae Isophene Grigsby Carpenter. Linda worked for many years as a cashier at Bruce’s Foodland and owner of Jack’s Hamburgers. She was a member of Minvale Baptist Church where she volunteered at the Life Center. She enjoyed gardening and feeding birds and she loved animals, especially her beloved cat Maggie.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
She is survived by her daughters Donna Owen, Delayna Fobbus (Marc), Dedra Pendergrass (Kevin), and Debi Hammon (Chad); her grandchildren, who called her MawMaw Linda, Alex Jones, Andie Smith (Dusty), Macy Ingram (Brady), Sydney Dale Fobbus, River Fobbus, Hollis Pendergrass, Elle Pendergrass, Owen Hammon, and Olly Hammon, and Tara Ridgeway (Chris); great-grandchildren Frankie June, Jax, Hayden Mac, Gray, Leo, Maggie, Charlotte, and Henry; brother Eddie Carpenter; sister Dikey George (Gary); and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Owen, her best friend Ezell Smith, her sister Helen Carpenter, and her parents Kenneth and Vina Mae Carpenter.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of services.
