Funeral service for Linda King, age 74, of Decatur, will be Thursday, September 1, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Todd Evans officiating. The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. King, who died Sunday, August 28, 2016, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton, was born August 3, 1942, in Lawrence County, to Ussery Stewart and Hazel Brewer Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Huey King, and one brother, Danny Joe Drane. Mrs. King was a registered nurse, a graduate of Calhoun Community College and UAH. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

She was a beloved mother, friend, and Christian. We are certain Linda would like everyone to know that her work here on earth is done. She received a call, sort of an offer she couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment came with a huge sign-on bonus that included a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time.

She is survived by one son, Lee King of Millbrook; one daughter, Lisa King of Decatur; one brother, Bobby Ray Drane of Decatur; two sisters, Patty Hughes of Spring Hill, TN, and Betty Benfield of Moulton; and two grandchildren, Mason King and Carter King, both of Millbrook.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P. O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.
