Linda Joyce Wheeler Hampton, 78, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at North Al. Medical Center. She was born in Golden, MS to Cason and Ruby Childers Wheeler. Linda was a retired bus driver for Red Bay School and a member of Golden United Methodist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 4, at Golden United Methodist Church with Bro. Steve Kennedy and Bro. Donnie Riley officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years – John Thomas Hampton; daughter – Misty Hampton (Tim); grandsons – John Cason and Kevin Thomas; sister – Barbara Hammock; sister-in-law – Jean Hampton Paden (Floyd); brother-in-law – Jerry Hampton; special cousin – Bill Wheeler (Polina) and cousins – Ronnie Childers and Dennis Sell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, John H. and Odessa Engle Hampton, sister, Catherine Creel Wheeler, brother, Michael Ray Wheeler and cousin, John Creel Wheeler.
Pallbearers will be John Cason, Sandy Russell, Ethan Winchester, Levi Blanton, David Paden and Dustin Warren.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 3, 5-8 p.m. at Golden United Methodist Church.
