Linda Jo Mundy of Jacksonville, Alabama, left this worldly home for her eternal home in Heaven, surrounded by her loving family on April 6, 2023. She was born on January 2, 1946, to William Barry Songer, Sr., and Minnie Laura Songer of Anniston, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents of Anniston, Alabama; and by her brother, Rodney Glenn Songer of Wetumpka, Alabama.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Dennis Jackson Mundy of Jacksonville, Alabama; her daughters, Kim Waggoner (Daryl) and Kelly Clayton (Daniel); her son, Dennis Jeremy “Jack” Mundy (Devon); her grandchildren, MaRandi Riley (Thomas), Dillon Waggoner (Kelsie); Tyler Clayton, Delaney Clayton, Jessica Lumpkin (John) and grand-dogs; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Ella Pearl Riley; brother, William “Buddy” Songer, Jr.; and nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends that were like family.
She had a long career in the banking industry for many years that she enjoyed. Once she retired, she took a part time job at Center for Domestic Preparedness of Fort McClellan. She loved acting here and all the new friends she met. Her happy places were to be surrounded by family and friends throughout her life. She enjoyed painting, singing and traveling. She also could be found at a thrift store or estate sale looking for treasures. She blessed each of her grandchildren at graduation with a hand stitched throw blanket that was made with love for each of them. We all were blessed to be loved by her. And from all the communication through this journey, I know she had the same affect on many.
A memorial service for Linda will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Chapel at Cremation Services of East Alabama, 733 White Plains Road, Anniston, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity in Linda’s name.
