Linda Hardymon, age 79 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee died Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her home following a brief illness. She was a native of Frankfurt, Ohio and a daughter of the late Speck and Marion O’Brien. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lissie O’Brien.
A loving mother and grandmother, survivors include her children, Adam Hardymon, Matt Hardymon, Nathan Hardymon and wife Meghann, and Mindy Hardymon; grandchildren, Brooklynn, Cailie, Cori, Zach, Austin; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Linda attended her beloved Ohio State University and later attended MTSU where she received both her Bachelors and Master of Science degrees. She had taught as an Adjunct Teacher for Environmental Science and most recently completed 25 years of service with MTSU as a facilities manager.
She was active in many issues that were important to her and our community. She served as a board member for Recycle Rutherford, a member of the President’s Commission of the Status of Women, she served as treasurer of the Murfreesboro branch of the NAACP, a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ohio, member of the Dames Club, past board member of Wee Care Day Care in Murfreesboro, past board chair and member of the Mid Cumberland Community Action Agency, and a past board member of the Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center.
Her love of science led to her continued involvement in the STEM Program for girls over 25 and she looked forward to getting her STEM Conference t-shirt every year. She was also a proud member of the Association of Energy Engineering, and she was a Certified Energy Manager.
Visitation with the Hardymon family will be Friday, January 3, 2025, from 4:00 until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel and burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
