Linda Jacobs Profile Photo Linda Faye Barnes Jacobs, age 77, passed away Friday August 18, 2023, at the emergency room of Jackson General Hospital after an automobile accident earlier in the afternoon.

She was born in Jackson and grew up in Selmer, the daughter of the late Raymond Cleo “R.C.” and Freddie Mae Tackett Barnes.  She graduated from McNairy Central High School in 1963 and married Henry Edward Jacobs in 1965.  They made their home in Selmer a few years before moving to Chester County in 1973.  She worked at Brown Shoe Company in Selmer a few years and then at the Freed-Hardeman University Bookstore beginning in 1984.  She retired as  bookstore manager after serving twenty years in that position.

She had been a member of the Estes Church of Christ since 1973 and had been active in the bible school teaching program.

She enjoyed cooking, working in her flowers, and going to lunch with friends.

She is survived by two sons; Jody Jacobs and wife Heather of Henderson and James Jacobs of Joelton, three grandchildren; Makenna, Morgan, and Andrew and a brother Neal Barnes of Selmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Henry in February 2022.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday at the Estes Church of Christ with MarK Blackwelder and Doug Burleson officiating.  Burial will follow at the  Estes Cemetery with Danny Eubanks officiating.  The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel from 5 PM until 8 PM Monday and again Tuesday from 12 noon until the funeral time of 2 PM at the Estes Church building.
