, age 71, wife of Jack Alderson and resident of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Ted Burleson and Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on October 18, 1945 in Limestone, Alabama, Linda was the daughter of the late Hestel Howard Townsend and the late Mary Magdalene Bailey Townsend. She married Jack Alderson on December 12, 1966 and together they had two children. She was a member of West 7th Church of Christ. Linda worked at Poplar Estates and NHC Columbia as the social director and at Maury Regional Medical Center in the admitting office. She was a beautician who worked at several different beauty salons in Columbia. She also worked at Weather Tamer for twelve years as well as Lovell Office Supply, Curves, and Silver Screen Videos. She loved her cats and her dog, “Harley,” and she also enjoyed Nascar, especially Sterling Marlin.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Kevin (Natalie) Alderson of Santa Fe, Kimberly (Brian) Hopkins of Santa Fe; sister: Rebecca Townsend of Columbia; and grandchildren: Thomas Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins, Specialist Jessica Elizabeth Alderson, Amanda Renee (Robbie) Sanders, and Lucas Hodge.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Howard Earl Townsend and John Phillip Townsend.
Pallbearers will be: Thomas Hopkins, Taylor Hopkins, Robbie Sanders, Buddy Voss, Bob Drexler, Bailey Townsend, Jonah Townsend, David Alderson, and Lucas Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will include: the member of West 7th Church of Christ and nieces and nephews.
