Linda Clerget Russell, born September 10, 1948, in Monticello, Indiana, was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose life has been defined by devotion to her family, service to others, and a generous spirit. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Linda was born to Robert Dean “Bob” Clerget and Alta “Mae” Clerget and grew up alongside her sister, Patricia Clerget Mohalley. Throughout her life, Linda carried with her a strong work ethic, warm heart, and quiet strength that touched everyone that knew her.
She was married to her husband, Elton Keith Russell, for 54 years and made their home in Decatur, AL. She was the loving mother of,Jilayne Russell, and cherished grandmother to Luke Wingo and Logan Wingo, all of Decatur, AL She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Mohalley of Spring, TX, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda retired after 38 years of dedicated civil service to Redstone Arsenal. Beyond her professional career, she was deeply involved in her community and the activities she loved. She was a founding member of the Decatur Alabama Kennel Club and served as the former Historian for the Morgan County Master Gardeners Association. An avid gardener, talented crafter, and enthusiastic antique collector, Linda found joy in creating beauty and preserving memories.
Of all her accomplishments, Linda’s greatest pride and deepest joy were her family, especially grandsons, Luke and Logan Wingo. Known lovingly as “Meme” to family and close friends, she was a constant and loving presence in their lives. She delighted in cooking for her grandsons and their friends, and in recent years enjoyed serving game meals on Fridays for the West Morgan Football teams.
Meme greeted everyone with a kind smile and gentle nature. Strong in spirit and capable in every endeavor, she approached life with determination, grace, and compassion. Her legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering devotion to those around her.
