The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Linda died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at her home. She was born January 22, 1942, in Morgan County to Dixie Harris Clark and Woodward Oneal Clark. She is survived by her children, Dalinda Willis (Pete), Melissa Penley (Jamie) and David Peek Jr. (Kate), all of Decatur; and six grandsons, Buck Thomas, William Penley, Harris Penley, Lane Willis, Mills Peek and Charlie Peek.
In 1960, Linda graduated as Valedictorian from Tanner High School. She began her professional career working for NASA in Huntsville and soon after moved to San Diego to work with the space program there. When she returned to Decatur, she went to Peek Olds-Cadillac to buy a convertible and there, she met her husband David. They married on August 14, 1965 and were together until David’s death in 2013. After 34 years as a homemaker, she joined ReMax Platinum as a Licensed Realtor and was named Realtor of the Year in 2010.
Linda loved sports. She loved Alabama football, deep sea fishing with her family, but most of all she loved watching her grandsons play sports. She loved her children and grandchildren above all else and she never missed an opportunity to show them that they were special.
Linda will be remembered most for her abundant generosity. She was generous with her time and her compassion. She served on the Board of Directors for Parents and Children Together (PACT) for over 30 years. She received numerous national, state, and local service awards for her work with children and families. She was an amazing example of love of community, fair minded leadership, and dedication not only to her own family, but to all families.
