Linda Alice Horton Ray, 72, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at NMMC Hospice Care after an extended illness. She was born November 20, 1950, in Ecru to John and Doris Robbins Horton. She was a 1968 graduate of Ecru High School where she was a FHA Officer. She was a beloved member of First Baptist Church in Pontotoc. She retired from Pontotoc City School District where she held many positions over the 36 1/2 years during her time there. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her pastime activities were shopping, traveling, and going to concerts. Linda was the life of the party and never met a stranger. She was generous beyond measure and devoted her entire life to her family and will be truly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Billy Ray; her two sons, Chris Ray(Paige) and Josh Ray(Bethany); 2 grandchildren, Kristin Ray “Luv” and Dalton Ray “DeeMan”; her brother, Larry Horton; niece, Courtney Horton Biffle; and great niece, Chloe Garrad.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a host of aunts and uncles; daughter-in-law, Nikki Curry Ray; sister-in-law, Rita Horton; and brother-in-law, Billy Donaldson.
Services will be Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 2PM at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Dr. Ken Hester officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21st 5-8PM at the funeral home and Thursday, June 22nd 1PM until service time. Burial will follow in Ecru Cemetery. Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Jef Faines, Adam Patton, Martin Rodgers, Austin Shempert, Greg Hall, and Phillip Heard.
