Graveside services for Mr. Lincoln Carr, age 92 of Ashland, was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Millerville Community Cemetery with Bro. Kenneth Neeley officiating.
Mr. Carr passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Clay County Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he graduated from Bibb Graves High School in 1947. He was always a working man; he retired from Crown Textile after working over 30 years as a weaver and worked many years pulping wood. He loved to garden, and make everyone laugh with his good sense of humor. He would always say “Everybody smile” and was an avid story teller and “song maker”.
He is survived by his daughter, Roxann Horn (Johnny) of Ashland; six grandchildren: Scott Carr (Tracey), Traci Morrow (Jimmy Braden), Stacy Carr (Don Ridley), Christy Kirk (Robbie), Bryan Carr (Debra) and Blake Horn (Cindy); 10 great-grandchildren: Colton Carr, Tyler Carr, Madeline Morrow, Dalton Yates, Drake Yates, Jaslyn Gamble, Andrew Gamble, Lane Horn, Dustin Horn and Evan Horn.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Dot Carr; his parents, Oscar Jackson Carr and Mozell Browning Carr; four brothers: Willard, Otto, Jack and Hoot Carr; his sister, Pebble Furr; two sons: Paul Dennis and James Roy Carr; and one great-grandson, Terron McCoy Garrett.
His grand and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Millerville Community Cemetery, 103 Old Hwy 9, Ashland, AL 36251.
Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
