Lillie Mae Emerson age 84, passed away December 18, 2023, at her sister’s home at Pocahontas, TN.
She was born March 31, 1939, in McNairy County, the daughter of the late James Egar Lee and Violet Mae Leatherwood Martin. She grew up in Ramer, TN and was a graduate of Ramer High School.
She married Gene Ramsey soon after high school and they had a daughter together. Both preceded her in death due to an auto accident.
She later married David Leo Emerson and they made their home in the Montezuma Community in Chester County. Mr. Emerson preceded her in death in 2022.
She worked for Levi Strauss in Ramer, TN for several years until the plant closed and then she worked for Delta Faucet in Jackson until retirement.
She was a member of the Montezuma Methodist Church.
She loved her family and enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
Mrs. Emerson is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Ann Winters of Ramer, Tommie Jean Carter (Albert) of Pocahontas, and Shirley Marie Wren (Larry) of Ramer and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Gene Harland Ramsey and a daughter, Christy Dawn Ramsey and her second husband, David Leo Emerson (2022); three brothers, Ernest Lee “Pete” Martin, James Albert Martin, and William Andrew Martin; four sisters, Iller Jean Teague, Hattie Baker, Mildred Thomas and Elizabeth Carter.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Blake Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Haltoms Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM Service time on Wednesday.
