Lillian Merrill Wood, 90, of Huntsville, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. She worked as an R.N. and Office Manager in her husband’s pediatric practice in Huntsville from 1962 until their retirement. She also worked as a wife, mother, and grandmother during that time and thereafter. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Robert V. Wood, her parents, Clifton and Bess Merrill of Anniston, her daughter, Jill Ellen Wood, and her sisters Mazie Welch, Mary Fordam, Myrtice Merrill, Betty Reid, and brother W. B. Merrill.
She is survived by her children Bob Wood, Jenny Taylor, and Joanie Williams, their spouses, and her grandchildren, Kate Messervy, Anne Caldwell, Julia, Sara Jo, Emme Taylor, Lily Williams, four great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (downtown Huntsville) her church of over 60 years, Hampton cove Funeral Home Cemetery & Crematory is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations may be made to the First Methodist building fund.
