THE SHOALS-The sharp dip in the thermometer across the country has triggered an equally sharp decline in blood donations, 
and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers declared they are now in emergency need. “We are in emergency need of blood donations, especially Type O and RH negative donors to meet the patient needs in our hospitals,” said LifeSouth Vice President of Operations J.B. Bowles. “The freezing weather arrived, causing blood donations to hit an annual low”. However, the patient demand for blood products in our hospitals has remained constant.
The word “emergency” isn’t used lightly by LifeSouth. It carries a specific meaning.
