Li Pi Su Profile Photo Dr. Li Pi Su died on the morning of July 5, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born in Yanshui, Taiwan on September 20, 1936, the fifth of ten children, she had a remarkable life where she was the first person from her hometown to get a PhD (Mathematics, University of British Columbia), to a nearly decade-long tenure as a professor at the University of Oklahoma, and finally a 30+ year career as a civilian in the military, including a lengthy service at USATA at Redstone Arsenal. She had dementia for over a decade. Her last journey was mercifully brief and peaceful and we’re grateful she’s no longer suffering.

She leaves behind two children (Dr. Joseph Wu of Birmingham, Alabama and Dr. Grace Wu of Columbia, Tennessee), six grandchildren, a younger sister, two younger brothers, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ.

A celebration of life, to be held at Huntsville Chinese Christian Church, will be held at a later date.
