Lewis Edward South went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21, 2016 Funeral Services will be Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Friendship Methodist Church (Battleground) in Cullman County, with Bro. Paul Monk officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The body will lie in state at the Church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
He was born April 26, 1930, in Cullman, Alabama, to Paul and Murtle McCravy South. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Robert South and a step-son: Darrell Trammell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nathalie (Lee) South, a son: Doug South, (Mary), a daughter: Kathy Gonzalez (Humberto) of Tampa, a step-son: Randy Hardin and daughter-in-law: Sue Trammell, five grandchildren: Monica Brewer, Stuart South, Amber Hunt, Haley Gonzalez, and Gabriella Gonzalez, five great grandchildren, a sister: Helen Stephen of Cullman and one sister-in-law: Jeannie South.
Mr. South served in the U.S. Air Force in the Aleutian Islands and retired with 32 years of service from Bell South. He loved his church family and was a wonderful husband and a loving father.
Pallbearers will be Church members .
