Lew Van Allen, age 93, of Springfield, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Friday, April 17th in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with Pastor Glenn Hill and Past Mike Foraker officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Goodlettsville on Dividing Ridge Road with his sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Wells and Gary Fuston.
Mr. Van Allen was born February 21, 1933 to the late Wanda and Lester Van Allen in Grand Haven MI. He graduated Battle Creek Academy in 1952 and moved to California where he worked for Loma Linda Foods. Mr. Van Allen has worked for the Southern New England Conference, KY/TN Conference, Gulf States Conference and as treasurer of the Mission in Bermuda. He retired in 2000, after 41 years of service to the Church.
He served as Head Elder, Pathfinder Leader, and Treasurer, as well as Sabbath School Teacher, in several SDA Churches that he has attended.
Mr. Van Allen liked to travel, snow ski, and garden. He had a missionary spirit and would witness to others about Jesus wherever he was. He also loved music and especially hearing his grandson, Brennan, play guitar for him every day. In the evenings, he enjoyed watching Special Hymns by request on 3ABN.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Van Allen was preceded in death by his brother, Lane Van Allen.
He is survived by Faye, his wife of 35 years and sons, Kary (Sheri) Van Allen, Kevin (Dawn) Van Allen, Kris (Jean) Van Allen, daughter, Renee Capachione, stepson, Joe (Sirci) Stinson, stepdaughters, Johnna (James) Ford, and Joya (Steve) Towne, and grandchildren Nicholas (Tamra) and their son Lucas and daughter Aleah, Melissa (Calvin) Simmons and sons, Kenneth, Kailey, Nathan, and Noah, and daughter, Ally, Nicole (Steve) Horne and their daughters, Emma and Sadie, Justin (Marissa) Van Allen and their son Logan and daughter Lily, Rachel (Michael) Jenks and their sons Wesley and Liam, Benjamin (Jessica) Van Allen and daughter Emillia, Natalie Van Allen, Haleigh Worth, Jordan Van Allen, Jodi (Jennifer) Petersen and their daughters, Jessi and Jami Petersen, Randi (Eric) Fries Hovgaard, Pierce (Delfina Garcia Munoz) Capachione, Georgia Capachione, Damon (Charlotte) Stinson, Emma Rae Stinson, Dustin Ford, Derek Ford, Jacob Towne, Brennan Towne; and his beloved and devoted kitty cat Jobey.
