Leven Holmes, 82 of Arab died Saturday November 18, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Holmes was born April 14, 1935 in Marshall County to Syble Greene Holmes. He was a graduate of Etowah High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Holmes owned and operated Holmes Cabinet Shop until his retirement in 1999. He and the former Pauline Noble were married for 63 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and writing music. He also loved watching Alabama Football.
He was a member of Compassion City Church in Albertville.
He is survived by his wife: Pauline Noble Holmes; his sons and daughters-in-law: Ricky Lynn Holmes and Rosanna Payne Holmes, Mark Anthony Holmes and Kimberly Hicks Holmes; his daughter: Paula Holmes Harris; his grandchildren: Kellie Holmes Henderson and Jon Henderson, Tenly Holmes Stewart and Taylor Stewart, Lori Brock Yokley and Daniel Yokley, Skylar Wynn Holmes and Judson Tate Holmes; great grandchildren: Logan Paul Petry, Noah Henderson, Lexi Henderson, Perry Rose Stewart, Samantha McKae Stewart and Brock Daniel Yokley; his sisters and brothers: Reba Beaty, Brenda Smith, Dean Weaver, Dorothy Powers, Windell Holmes and Paul Holmes. He was preceded in death by his mother: Sybil Greene Slaten, two brothers and one sister: Marlin Buddy Holmes, Hoyt Junior Holmes and Glenda Smithy.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday November 21, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brothers: Jon Henderson and Taylor Stewart, officiating. Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Judson Tate Holmes, Noah Henderson, Logan Paul Petry, Daniel Yokley, Colby Glassco and Blan Milner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Slaten, Bobby Bowling, Bruce Pritchard, Ed Nixon, Larry Pritchard, Michael Pritchard, Steve Hill and Wade Noble.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel prior to the service
