Lera Mae Allen Howell Rogers, 99, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, to Vernon A. and Ida Mae Clement Allen. She was married to Thurman Howell for 57 years, and together they raised five children. Throughout their marriage, they lived in several communities and shared many wonderful experiences before making Red Bay, Alabama, their home. She worked in retail sales for many years and was a devoted member of Chapel Hill Church of God of Prophecy, where she was the oldest member. She also had a passion for collecting antiques and greatly enjoyed the beauty and history of each treasured piece.

Funeral service will be Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL, with Rev. Billy West and Rev. Jacob Pharr officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her five children, Charles Howell (Reita), Austen Linda Carroll, Tawana Hayes, Lisa Johnson (Johnny), and Michael Howell; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Johnnie Faye Hollingsworth.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thurman Howell and C.D. Rogers; her parents; and one sister, Frances Allen.

Pallbearers will be Johnny M. Johnson, Lee Johnson, Ken Patterson, Jody Patterson, Jason Howell and Easton Underwood.
