Lera Lorene Harris, 90 of Tuscumbia, Alabama passed away October 5th, 2012 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home.

Mrs. Harris will be remembered for a kind and gentle spirit with abounding love for the Lord and for all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her life was a ministry and she inspired, encouraged, and wholeheartedly loved.

She was born in Tishomingo County, Mississippi on October 14th, 1921. She spent some time in Red Bay, Alabama. Her life was largely spent in the Tri-Cities area.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colbert Heights, worked as cook at the Colbert Heights School, and worked for many years at the Colbert Heights Mini Mart.

She is preceded in death by mother Almedia Cain, father James Marshall Cain, brothers Lilburn, Leonard, Orban, Howard, Bill, sisters Lydia, Irene, Faye, husbands Ted Harris and Athel Long and son Ronnie Long.

She is survived by brother Eunice Cain, daughter Athelene James and son-in-law Grady, daughter-in-law Linda Long, son Gary Long and daughter-in-law Shirley, daughter Vickie McKinney and son-in-law Roland. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice.

Services will be held on October 7th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Colbert Heights. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. The burial will be Monday at The Ridge Cemetery in Golden, Mississippi.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
