Leonard Shelby Burkhead age 82 passed away October 22, 2013 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born and reared in Montezuma community of Chester County, the son of the late Reddrick and Carmen Rankin Burkhead. He attended schools in Chester County and was married to Margaret Tweedy in the 60’s. They made their home in Jackson for five years and moved to Chester County and made their home in the Montezuma community and later moved to West Main Street in Henderson. He liked to hunt and make custom gun stock.
Mr. Burkhead is survived by a niece, Susie Sikes of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Tweedy Burkhead in 2009.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Roy Sharp officiating and burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery in Chester County.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 12:00 Noon Thursday until service time.
