Funeral for Leonard “Curley” Burns, 82, of Hartselle will be Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ben Walker and Bro. Bill Hall officiating. Burial will be in Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Burns, who died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at his residence, was born Nov. 13, 1933, in Morgan County to Prince Elmo Burns and Sally Hendrix Burns. He was a maintenance worker for Amoco Chemical Company prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Burns and Rural; and two sisters, Twillie Hill and Peggy Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Knox Burns; two sons, Tim Burns (Tammy) and Cody Burns (Lisa); two daughters, Myra Powell (Pat) and Belinda Tallant; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Dryer (Todd) and Mary Beth Sawyer (Shane); one brother, Edward H. Burns (Keeta); 10 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Todd Dryer, Eric Dryer, Nathan Dryer, Shane Sawyer, Steven Pope, Zach Fowler and Eric Burnham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curley’s Sunday school class at Westview Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made to AlaCare Hospice.
