Leon Loyd “Dood” Uptain, age 95 of Oakman, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026 at UAB Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery. Lee Taylor will officiate.
Mr. Uptain was preceded in death by his Parents-Willie and Emma Uptain; 7 Brothers; 1 Sister; Son-Anthony Uptain; Grandson-Andy Uptain; 1 Grandson; First Wife-Marcelle; Second Wife-Carllera (Cooney); Daughters-in-law-JoAnn Uptain, Sherry Uptain, and Pam Otts.
He is survived by his Daughter-Barbara Uptain Otts (Mark Otts); Sons-David Uptain and Paul Uptain (Michelle); Sister-Christine Wade; Daughter-in-law-Pam Otts; Ray Otts, Tammy Burrow, and Randy Burrow;12 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
