Leon Alvin Skelton, age, 82 of Arab died – Friday – February 5, 2016 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Skelton was born on April 11, 1933 in Marshall County, the son of Oscar Skelton and Josiephene Feemster Skelton. He grew up in Arab and taught school for many years at Grassy Jr. High School.
He was a member of Union Hill FCM Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Linda Jo Skelton; son: Larry Skelton and daughter- in- law Tina Skelton; grandchildren: Ben Skelton (Josie), Laura Skelton, and Heather Skelton; sister- in- law: Mary Sue Skelton; nieces: Lisa Tubbs and Deborah Almond. He was preceded in death by his parents: Oscar &Josiephene Skelton and brother: Clinton Skelton.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday – February 8, 2016 at Union Hill FCM Church with Rev. Russell Golden, Rev. Jon Minyard and Rev Keith Hodges officiating. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Ben Skelton, Robert Parker, Bill Harbuck, Fred Prosser, Felix Maze, Donny Parker, Rudy Wooten and Max Harper.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Leamon George, Rickey Berry, Rickey Harper, David Williams, Steve Harper and Elton Haymon.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Sunday – February 7, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. He will also lie in state at the Church on the day of the service from 1:00- 2:00.
