Leo Samuel Melton, age 79, passed from this earth on Monday, February 06, 2017. The family will receive friends for visitation on February 10, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Hendrix Chapel Church of Christ with Wayne Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Church of Christ Cemetery.
Leo was a faithful member of Hendrix Chapel Church of Christ. He was a member of the Church of Christ for 38 years. He was a retired painter by trade. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Leo loved to fish, loved his family, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Audrey Melton; and four brothers, Cecil, PeeWee, Jerry and Danny Ray.
Leo is survived by his precious and loving wife of 53 years, 6 months and 5 days, Sue Faires Melton. Leo and Sue had two children, Duane (Kim) and Richard (Jennifer) both of Florence. Leo’s grandchildren were his world, and he theirs. Kristen James (Matt), Kelsey Cooper(Rusty), Stephanie Melton (Dakota), Ryan Melton (Tayler) ; and four great grandchildren, Boston, Bryson, Noah and Maddie Kate. Leo is also survived by two sisters, Wanda Chandler (Danny) and Hilda Comer (Danny).
Pallbearers will be family, Ryan Melton, Matt James, Rusty Cooper, Dakota Norton, Nathan Bain and Skyler Bain.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrel Crittenden, Faron Faires, Randy Akins, Jamie Wallace, Corey Faires and Tyler Faires.
The family would like to thank Dr. Danny McFall, Dr. Robert Mann, Amedisys Home Health and the staff of ECM Hospital 6 West.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to the Pine Hill Cemetery Fund.
