Leo Jackson Green Leo Jackson Green passed away on August 7, 2023, at the age of 82 at Brookwood Baptist Hospital in Jasper, AL.

Born on July 7, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama at Carraway Hospital, he lived all his life in Quinton, AL in Walker County. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Mallett Green and Rufus Jackson Green; brother, Glenn Eugene Green; sister-in-Law, Betty Manasco Green; brother-in-law, Robert Michael Green; and niece, Tonya Green Bryant.

Leo attended Flat Creek Elementary School and Dora High School where he graduated in 1961. After graduation he worked for Ralston Purina Co. He left there and started his own business, Leo Green Trucking Co., which lasted for approximately 55 years. Leo was a Freemason with Acacia Lodge No. 670 for over 50 years. He loved going to bluegrass shows and listening to bluegrass music. Leo also enjoyed fishing. He celebrated his 80th birthday in Orange Beach, AL fishing with most of his sisters and brothers-in law and caught the biggest fish of the whole group.

At a young age Leo attended Shanghi Baptist Church in Quinton, AL. Over 26 years ago he started attending Zion Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Jasper, AL. He loved his church and was there faithfully until recently when he became ill and was not able to attend. Leo also served for many years on the Shanghi Cemetery Board, volunteering his time to ensure the ongoing maintenance and care of the cemetery where many of his family members are buried.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Guendolyn Marie Green of Pleasant Grove, AL; Dianne Alexander of Quinton, AL; Carolyn Spears (Dale) of Quinton, AL; Louise Williams of Quinton, AL; Doris Kitchens (Charles) of Jasper, AL; Sharon Segars (John) of Orange Beach, AL; and loving brother Rufus Jackson Green Jr. of Quinton, AL. Leo is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Shane Green, Monica Kennedy, Seth Spears, Jason Williams, Laura Rhoades, Emily Kinsaul, Derrick Kitchens, Cody Lucas, and Zac Lucas, as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Leo loved all his family, and all his family loved him. Though we rest assured and take comfort in knowing that our “oldest brother” is now whole and at peace standing in Jesus’s presence, he will be greatly missed here on earth. Our memories of him will forever be in our hearts.

The family will receive friends at Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton, AL, on Wednesday August 9, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and again on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Shanghi Baptist Cemetery. Elder Charles Kitchens and Elder Derrick Kitchens will officiate the service. Pall Bearers will be Leo’s nephews and great-nephew, Noah Alexander.
