Lenna Ruth Bates, 83, of Athens, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Bates was born Dec. 13, 1935, in Limestone County, retired from Fafnir Bearing of Pulaski, Tennessee, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Market Street church of Christ.
Funeral will be noon Friday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home, with David Cox officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis Clark, Brad Griffin, Ryan Griffin, Austin Clark, Braxton Griffin, Jasper Griffin and Paul Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Shorty Bates, Paul Clem and Ronald Gatlin.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
Survivors include daughters, Sherry (Mike) Townsend of Minor Hill, Tennessee, Sue (Tim) Griffin of Athens and Shelia Clark and friend, Paul Clem, of Athens; grandsons, Brad (Brandi) Griffin, Ryan (Erica) Griffin and Travis Clark; great-grandchildren, Lexi Griffin, Braxton Griffin, Jasper Griffin, Austin Clark, Emmalyn Colble, Cora Clark, Kimber Clark and Gunter Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Bates; brother, Tommy Gatlin; sisters, Retha Mae Arra, Barbara Adams, Edith Eubanks and Joan Craig.
