Lena Hamilton Leary Lena Hamilton Leary, 86, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025.  Born on July 23, 1939, in Clarksville, Tennessee, Lena was a beloved daughter of Cas and Callie Hamilton.

A devoted wife to the late Joseph William (Bill) Leary, Lena lived a life defined by love, honesty, loyalty, and dedication.  She was a beautiful and humble person who gave her all to her family, friends, and community.

As a mother, she cherished her three children—Teresa Leary McLendon (Dean), Valerie Leary, and Joey Leary (Terri)—and took immense pride in her grandchildren, who called her Lele—Lane, Anna Kate, Callie, and Carter, always placing family at the heart of everything she did.

She built a home filled with faith, warmth, laughter, hard work, and education.  Her greatest joy came from her family—her children, grandchildren, and friends, and the many lives shaped by her love and example.

Lena’s steadfast faith guided her throughout her life.  She was an active member of Jackson Way Baptist Church, a cherished caregiver to infants at JWBC’s Child Development Center, and a daily comforting presence at the Chapman School cafeteria.  Her kindness and sense of service touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her sisters Margie Hamilton Hill (Robert), and Alexis Hamilton Heflin; her brother Leon Hamilton; many nieces and nephews; and preceded in death by brothers Willie F, Ray, and Gene.

A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Monday, October 13, at noon.

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.  I once was lost, but now I’m found.  Was blind, but now I see.”
