Leigh A. Rickard, age 77, of Florence, Alabama passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at E.C.M. hospital.

Visitation will be today, 6-8 p.m. at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. tomorrow, July 8, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dewayne McDuff officiating. Interment will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be James Clemens, Phillip Threet, Colin Wilson, Scott Wilson, Donnie Behel and D.C. Behel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be John Gresham, Joe Kasmeier, Bobby Rickard and Myron Gardner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer L. and Annie Sue Rickard; mother and father-in-law, James W. and Earle Threet; brother-in-law, J.W. Threet.

Survivors include:

Wife of 59 years: Elizabeth Threet Rickard

Daughter: Rhonda Rickard Burns

Son: Michael Lee Rickard

Grandchildren: John Burns, James Rickard and Katherine Rickard

Sister-in-Law: Lavara Threet Clemens

Nieces and Nephews

Mr. Rickard was a native of Lauderdale County, attended Saint Florian Elementary and Junior High School, was a 1953 graduate of Coffee High School and a 1957 graduate of Auburn University with double major in Agricultural Science and Journalism. Employed with John Deere Company-Atlanta Branch, he worked in North Carolina, South Carolina and Alabama and was the youngest territorial manager ever in the Southeast.

He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Florence and also a member of the “Deerelicts”, a John Deere Organization.
