Leaborn Douglas McCarleyLeaborn Douglas McCarley, age 88, of Muscle Shoals, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2019. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 7, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Jim Warren will officiate. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

“Bro. Leaborn” was born on September 15, 1930, to the late Walter and Josie Hollis McCarley. He was a retired teacher and minister, having served as pastor of Baptist churches in Colbert, Lauderdale, Franklin, and Marion Counties. He was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McCarley was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marshall, Hugo, Arnie, and Woodrow McCarley; sisters, Kathleen Perry and Pauline Pounders; and son, Roger McCarley.

Leaborn is survived by his beloved wife, Bertie McCarley; children, Ralton McCarley (Peggy), Linda Howe (Robert), Rhonda McCarley, and Rita Sparks (Steve); grandchildren, Brian McCarley, Tammy McCarley, Blake Howe, Melissa Howe, Nathan Howe, Melinda Howe, Brandy McCarley, Will Sparks, and Whitney Sparks; thirteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
