Joel Lane Lamar

LEXINGTON-The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement concerning a person they are trying to locate who is suspected of criminal activity:

“***WANTED PERSON***
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division has received multiple complaints regarding suspected criminal activity with a business identifying itself as Lamar Construction and its owner, Mr. Joel Lane Lamar, of Lexington, Alabama.
In December 2022 one of the alleged victims reported that they had hired Mr. Lamar to construct a building. A contract was signed by both parties. The victim secured a construction loan and presented a cashier’s check to Mr. Lamar. The allegations state that several months passed and no construction ever began, and Mr. Lamar never returned the considerable amount of money.
After an extensive investigation, a warrant was issued in this case for Mr. Lamar for the criminal offenses of Theft of Property in the First Degree and Negotiating a Worthless Instrument.
Since the opening of this investigation, two more victims have come forward and alleged that Mr. Lamar has stolen their construction loans as well. These investigations are ongoing.
Based upon the above information, Investigators believe that there could be other victims that have not yet come forward. If you feel that you have been a victim of Mr. Lamar, Lamar Construction, or have information as to the whereabouts of Mr. Lamar, please contact the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 760-5757 or 911.
